Bought this after Microsoft replaced the drop-down menus with the ribbon toolbar which, even after using it for almost a decade, I am still NOT a fan of – see my comments at the end. I wanted to make sure I got the last version of WORD with the old-style menus for use at home while I could still get this version new.

I love the simpler, cleaner, less-cluttered look and smaller footprint of the drop-down menus; not having to constantly switch back and forth between tabs; and the customizable toolbar for frequently-used items. Has worked fine with Windows 7. Very glad I bought it while I could and will be sad when it gets too obsolete to use any more, since MS no longer supports this version.

For reference, my thoughts on the ‘new’ ribbon: Though I have become reconciled to using it at work [because I had no choice], I am still not a fan – it takes up too much real estate; it’s got so much stuff [and NOT organized in the way I use it], that it’s harder to find what I’m looking for [even when I know where it is]; and is cluttered with features I rarely or never use, so I end up drilling down to a sub-menu most of the time anyway, which isn’t saving me any time over the drop-down menus.

Every body should have a copy of this software on their computer. Microsoft Office Pro edition is a good product. It installed easily over Office Pro I haven’t had any problems with it yet. It relies heavily on online links, you probably should have a fast DSL connection or broadband if you are going to use the online links.

Update: I am using Windows XP with Office Pro and today was disappointed to find that the Help menu is not as user friendly or helpful as earlier editions. This has improved greatly since , and includes training on Microsoft.

I have enjoyed learning more about each product in the office package. I really like this version of Office. There are many new enhancements that make it much more efficient and user friendly.
