Win10 Pro stations can’t join domain. I have a Win Hyper-V host with 4 Win Standard servers. So far, I have built my DC. I am trying to connect my windows 10 pro to my windows server Active Directory Domain and yet when I try to join the domain.

This will be yourdomain. I was going to suggest the Hosts file as well, but I’ve also seen something similar with a single user on Windows 7 at my previous employer who couldn’t access network shares a couple of minutes to a few hours after she logged in. Don’t remember the specific events in the logs, but a DC couldn’t be found.

For her, I could take the box out of the domain, then join successfully, but shortly thereafter the problem came back. I finally gave her a new box but kept hers around without reimaging to see if I could solve the solution.

Although I had a DC synching with an external time server, this box was synching with a different source and the time was off by several minutes. Once I set time at the command prompt, the problem went away. What I have found is that you need to join the domain from “Settings” in Windows The old way from system properties like we did in Windows 7 just doesn’t work.

This will bring up a box that allows you to join the domain. It will also as if you want a standard or administrator account.

I had a similar issue after installing an AV application that wasn’t for enterprise use. Removed it and joined the domain without a problem. I have known it to want the FQDN so yourdomain. Also try via Powershell Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, I’ve had machines refuse to join a domain and it’s been because the time was wrong, might be worth having a check. I’ve had to disable one or the other at times in order to get otherwise simple communication to work.

If you have an AntiVirus already installed try turning it off. Also turn off Windows Firewall or any other firewall you have on the box. You’d be surprised how often Windows Firewall blocks joining a Windows Domain. I find things go easier when you are. If you are trying to use Wifi to join the domain it sometimes can cause errors. Make sure when setting the domain name you use the full FQDN such as domain. If that doesn’t work, try using Powershell to join it to the domain.

Our domain is called xyz. When I try to join, sometimes I have to give xyz only, and sometimes xyz. That way it will have the same settings everything else does.
